I was having problems with my roof leaking into my living room. It was starting to do some substantial damage to the drop ceiling panels every time it rained. I called a local roofer to try to fix the damage. They came out and patched the area where it was supposedly leaking. Two weeks later, I had to call them out again because the roof still leaked. There had recently been some hail damage on roofs in my area, so I finally decided to get my insurance company involved. They sent someone out to inspect for hail damage. He was on my roof for a total of around 10 minutes. He said there was no damage ... claim denied. I was told about Gorilla Roofing from a friend's family member. They typically service the O'Fallon, St. Charles, MO area ... I am in the Belleville, IL side. I called Tyler and spoke to him about my issue. He drove over to do an inspection. He spent over and hour taking pictures and doing a full inspection on my roof AND gutters, down spouts, windowsills, etc. He circled all damage with orange chalk. And YES there was hail damage. Tyler then went to bat for me and contacted my insurance company and arranged a meeting for another inspection, with him present. They came to the conclusion that there WAS hail damage and honored the claim. We then set an appointment to have my shingles replaced. The crew showed up, along with Ben, their boss. Everything was finished within a day, and they cleaned up after themselves very well. Ben explained to me exactly where he thought the leaking was coming from ... and he was right ... it was not where the previous roofing company patched. We've had lots of rain since the installation, with no leaks. Bottom line, Gorilla Roofing, especially Tyler and Ben, have been very friendly and courteous. I've never had a company step up to the plate for me like they did. This company is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Hannah from Gorilla while walking around in Central West End. After a recent incident where a tree fell through my sister's roof, I've been eager to help her find a good roofing company . I approached Hannah after seeing her Gorilla Roofing hat and I'm so glad I did! Her genuine care and willingness to go the extra mile left an impression and I'm excited to tell my sister about her/Gorilla Roofing!

Clean, quick, worth every penny. I have never had to replace a roof before. Anthony came out talked to my family and I about our options, no pressure, just information. I checked their reputation around town and was shocked that no one had a negative thing to say. So we hired gorilla roofing. They handled everything it was as simple as picking out a color... They did the rest, they handled the insurance, they did the work, they were timely professional and clean.

I called Gorilla Roofing to do an inspection and estimate for storm damage to my roof. The woman I talked to on the phone was extremely helpful. She was patient and answered all of my questions. Taylor, who came to my home to inspect the roof, was courteous, friendly, professional, and arrived exactly on time. He spent a lot of time explaining the process, and how insurance claims work. He pointed out all of the issues with my roof and explained everything that would need to be done to fix it. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. I would highly recommend Gorilla Roofing to anyone needing roof repair.

Most Common Residential Roofing FAQs

How long will my roof last?

Generally speaking, a properly installed residential roof that is maintained with asphalt shingle or tile roofs can be expected to last between 25-35 years. We recommend that you have a roof inspection to determine the remaining useful life of your roof if you have just purchased a home and do not know when the roof was first constructed. This will help you to both better maintain the roof to maximize longevity, it will also help to know if you need to budget for a new one if the existing one is decreasing in roof life

Can I extend the life of my roof?

All roofing materials will eventually deteriorate and erode, especially in the hot humid summer as well as the cold winters. However, you can definitely extend the life of your roof with proper maintenance. The mistake most homeowners make is to ignore small repairs as needed. A missing shingle takes little time and cost to fix; but ignoring small simple fixes like a missing shingle may allow water to seep in, debris to accumulate and pry other shingles loose, or damage to affect the underlayment.

Are tile roofs preferable to shingle roofs?

It really comes down to preference, and in some cases, your HOA rules! While tile roofing materials have traditionally been longer-lasting, newer asphalt shingle products have proven to be nearly as durable, as well as often easier to repair. Tile and asphalt shingle have differences in price, weight, longevity, and care requirements – so we definitely recommend talking to a licensed St. Louis roofing contractor about which is best for you. Still, you can expect a quality asphalt shingle roof to last for 25 years or more.

What is the best thing I can do to ensure my roof lasts as long as possible?

Periodic self-inspections where you can take a look around your roof and annual roofing inspections are invaluable to a homeowner. As discussed, a small problem can become a major issue if not addressed. Regular residential roof inspections allow you to make minor repairs before they become larger roof projects.

How to check if I have a roof leak?

There are several ways to identify if you have a leak on your roof. If possible, head up to the attic and check the wood framing for signs of moisture such as dark spots or rot. You can also look at insulation to see if it is damp, or eroding. All of these can be signs of a roof leak. During and after major rain storms, you can also walk through your home and look at the ceilings and walls for signs of staining, bulging or drips. Should you see any of these, call for professional roofing assistance immediately.

Should I get a new roof before I sell my home?

If your roof is at the end of its useful life, you will likely have a much easier time selling if the roof is replaced. If you know it is going to be an issue with selling the home but cannot afford to put the new roof on without selling the home first, speak to your agent about ways to negotiate the price of the roof into the sale of the home.
